Welcome to Murph's
You're thrown in the deep end on your first shift at Murph's. Learn how to navigate your computer; complete mini-game tasks to keep your mysterious stats above 0; and dig through the archive folder in your spare time to try to uncover the truth about this sinister company you're working for.
---
Tips
To just play the mini-games, you won't have too much trouble. Clicking on a task will tell you the exact usage you can do to open the app. Just type it into the console and hit enter.
If you're struggling, there are a few in-game files you can read to help you out. Here is a quick summary. Go explore in game for more.
- README.txt
- Basic intro to the game and a hint towards where to look for the lore
- BASICS.txt
- Help with how to use commands and how to navigate the
- Everything in the docs folder
- More detailed information on tasks, commands, and apps
- Instructions on how to use the apps
There is an ending to the game! It's more than just the tasks and mini-games. There's some puzzles you'll have to solve. You might have to think outside the box here and there.

About the Game
This is my first game jam (Brackey's Game Jam 2025.1). I've started a whole bunch of projects and had lots of ideas. This game jam is the first time I've forced myself to get a more finished product out there. It's been a blast to create. I hope you can have some fun with it!
I've been enthralled by Ben Stiller's Severance on Apple TV recently. The game jam theme "Nothing can go wrong..." felt like it was perfect for a "mysterious and important", retro, dystopian, terminal game where the company punishes you for making mistakes. I have so many ideas with what I want to add from lore to apps/mini-games to effects. For those that like a bit of a puzzle, I hope you can enjoy digging around the computer to learn about the mysterious and sinister Murph's that you work for. For those that don't want to go digging, I hope the mini-games are fun enough on their own.

Known Issues
- Console keeps focus on modal open
- [MAJOR] Some paths don't work: absolute (e.g. ~/README.txt) or relative (e.g. ../README.txt). Hoping to fix this before the game jam deadline but it looks like a long fix so it so more major features are the priority
